Terms of Use
The plain-English rules for using this website, joining the chapter, giving to Stand for the Kids®, and coming to our events.
Effective September 8, 2026. By using this website you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
About this website
This website is published by Phi Delta Epsilon Iowa Beta, a student organization at the University of Iowa and a chartered chapter of Phi Delta Epsilon International Medical Fraternity. It exists to share information about the chapter: recruitment, events, philanthropy, and how to reach us. It is informational only. You do not create an account and nothing is sold on it.
This website is run by the chapter and is not an official University of Iowa website.
Accuracy of information
We do our best to keep dates, rooms, requirements, and dues current, but student schedules change. The chapter GroupMe and our emails are the final word on when and where anything happens. We are not responsible for plans you make based on a page that has since changed. If you spot an error, tell us and we will fix it.
Membership and recruitment
Information about requirements and rush is a description of our process, not an offer of membership. Applying does not guarantee an interview or a bid. Membership decisions are made by the chapter under its bylaws, the policies of Phi Delta Epsilon International Medical Fraternity, and University of Iowa policies for student organizations, all of which take priority over anything on this website. The chapter does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, age, or veteran status.
Hazing of any kind is prohibited by the chapter, by Phi Delta Epsilon, by the University of Iowa, and by Iowa law. If you experience or witness it, report it to the chapter, to the University, or to the police.
Dues, fees, and refunds
This website does not take payments. Membership dues and event entry fees are collected by the chapter's Vice President of Finance outside this site. Current dues are listed on the Rush page.
- Dues. Refund requests are decided by the executive board under the chapter bylaws. Email the chapter with your request and the reason; the Vice President of Finance will respond in writing.
- Event entry fees. If the chapter cancels an event, entry fees are refunded in full. If you cannot attend, contact us before the event; refunds are at the chapter's discretion.
- Donations are handled by Children's Miracle Network, not by the chapter. See the next section.
Donations
Gifts are made directly to Children's Miracle Network, either on its donation site or through its Help Make Miracles Greek Partners page, designated for the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital. Children's Miracle Network's donation terms apply, including its refund process and receipts. The chapter does not receive your payment, cannot issue refunds or tax receipts, and makes no statement about whether your gift is tax-deductible. Ask Children's Miracle Network or a tax professional.
Events
Our events, including the Stand for the Kids® volleyball tournament, involve physical activity and take place at venues we do not control. You attend and participate at your own risk. Follow the rules of the venue and the instructions of chapter officers, and behave respectfully toward everyone there. The chapter or the venue may require you to sign a waiver before participating, and may ask anyone to leave for unsafe or disruptive behavior. Alcohol and drugs are not permitted at chapter events.

Acceptable use
Don't try to break the site, overload it, scrape it for personal information, misrepresent yourself as the chapter, or use anything on it to harass anyone. That's it.
No warranties and liability
This website is provided "as is." To the fullest extent permitted by law, the chapter, its officers, and its members make no warranties about the site and are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of it or from reliance on information on it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

Accessibility
We want everyone to be able to use this site. It is built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA: it works with a keyboard alone, every image has a text description, colors meet contrast requirements, moving content can be paused, and animations are reduced for visitors who have asked their device for less motion. If anything on the site is hard for you to use, email the chapter and we will fix it or get you the information another way.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms; the effective date at the top will change when we do. Questions go to the chapter.
